1980 - The Beginning
Our story began in 1980, when our founder entered the cable industry as an independent contractor. The work started with residential cable television installations, early premium-channel projects, and drop buries—placing underground coaxial cable from the main line to the customer’s home.

What began as a way to earn money for college quickly became a career built on field experience, technical skill, and dependable work.
1983 - Mitchell Communications Is Founded
Mitchell Communications was established in 1983, providing cable television installations and residential drop-bury services. From the beginning, the company earned opportunities by completing work safely, correctly, and reliably.
Expanding Our Capabilities
The company soon advanced into multi-unit cable installations for apartment communities, followed by commercial projects for businesses and larger facilities. That growth led naturally into underground and overhead construction, allowing Mitchell Communications to support increasingly complex communications projects.
Growing Beyond Oklahoma
As our capabilities expanded, so did our reach. Mitchell Communications began completing projects in Kansas, Texas, Iowa, Nebraska, Louisiana, Florida, and other states while continuing to serve customers throughout Oklahoma.
Fiber and Technology Systems
As fiber-optic networks became essential to modern communications, we added residential and commercial fiber installation, fiber construction, and fiber-to-the-home services. Our experience also grew to include RUS-supported broadband projects serving rural communities.

At the same time, our technology services expanded to include structured data wiring, CCTV and surveillance, access control, nurse-call systems, and related low-voltage solutions.

Jerry Mitchell
Founder & President

Jerry began his communications career as an independent cable contractor in 1980 and founded Mitchell Communications in 1983. Over more than four decades, he has guided the company’s growth from residential cable installations and drop-bury services into commercial communications, underground and overhead construction, fiber-optic networks, and integrated technology systems. His field experience and steady leadership continue to shape the company’s commitment to dependable work and lasting customer relationships.Â
Jake Bender
Technology Systems Manager

Jake first joined Mitchell Communications in 1995 as a drop-bury technician and later served as a supervisor in the underground construction department. He left the company to broaden his experience in low-voltage telephone and network systems before returning in 2019 to establish and lead the Technology Systems Department.
​
Since returning, Jake has developed the department into a respected provider of structured cabling, CCTV and surveillance, access control, nurse-call systems, network infrastructure, and fiber solutions. He continues to expand its capabilities as technology and customer needs evolve. Â
